Ranganathittu is near Mysore and most widely known for aquatic birds and it is also having large number of fresh water crocodile.
Common birds like Painted Stork, Open Billed Stork, Spot Billed Pelican, Spoon Billed Duck, Black Headed Ibis nest there and make the habitat. During winter, as many as 40000 birds congregate at Ranganathittu.
