BELUM CAVES

The Belum Caves is the second largest and longest cave system in India, having long passages, galleries, spacious caverns with fresh water and siphons. Belum Caves have a length of 3,229 mtrs. The caves were formed ten thousands years ago by the constant flow of underground water from the now-disappeared river Chitravathi. The deepest point in the cave is at 46 m from entrance level. It is known as Pataalaganga.
